Meet Laura
I'm Laura Yancey Jones, a Licensed Professional Counselor and LPCS-Candidate with more than 20 years of experience helping students, families, and adults navigate life's challenges.
Before entering private practice, I spent nearly two decades working as a school counselor at the middle and high school levels. During that time, I had the privilege of supporting hundreds of students and their families through academic concerns, emotional struggles, family transitions, and the everyday ups and downs that come with growing up. I also have experience in career counseling and higher education, giving me a broad perspective on the many transitions people face throughout life.
While I am still working full-time as a Professional School Counselor, my passion is working with adults, in addition to the students I see each day—especially parents who are carrying a lot and trying their best to hold everything together.
Many of the clients I work with are navigating a season of change. They may be parenting a struggling teen, advocating for a child at school, managing family responsibilities, facing career or relationship transitions, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily life. Often, they're so focused on caring for everyone else that they've lost sight of their own needs.
One of the unique perspectives I bring to counseling is my experience working within schools. Many parents find themselves confused, frustrated, or overwhelmed when trying to navigate educational systems and support their child's academic, social, or emotional needs. I enjoy helping parents better understand what may be happening behind the scenes and empowering them to advocate for their children with confidence.
I don't believe you need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Sometimes people come in knowing exactly what they want to work on. Other times, they simply know that something isn't working anymore and they're ready for support.
Wherever you are in your journey, you don't have to navigate it alone.
I'm honored to walk alongside my clients as they build stronger connections, develop new perspectives, and create meaningful change in their lives.
I look forward to meeting you.

How I Support My Clients
I believe therapy should feel supportive, practical, and tailored to you—not one-size-fits-all. My style is calm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I focus on creating a space where you can talk honestly without judgment and walk away with tools you can actually use in real life. Some clients need structure and clear steps; others need space to process emotions, clarify decisions, or sort through stress. We’ll figure out what works best for you together.
As we work, I’ll help you set realistic goals, build skills, and make steady progress. My role is to help you feel more grounded, confident, and capable—one step at a time.
